35 Social Media Post Ideas For Small Businesses
Do you ever sit down with the intention of writing some social posts for your business and you come up empty? You stare at the screen for what seems like ages and yet you can’t think of anything to share with your audience. It happens to us too!
Figuring out what to share and what will interest your audience can be overwhelming. For many small business owners, it can be easier to just post a photo and some hashtags and forget about the caption. However, an informational caption or one that is entertaining is beyond beneficial for your business. It grows your brand, engages your audience, and positions your business as a reputable source of information.
To help you get started on building a must-follow Instagram account or Facebook page, we’re breaking down some of our favorite social media post ideas for small businesses!
User-Generated Content
If you’re running low on new photos to share or can’t find a stock photo that matches your brand, user-generated content is great to throw into the rotation.
A simple caption such as “Thank you for this beautiful photo @username” is enough to make your customers feel appreciated and encourage them to keep sharing their posts.
Introduce Your Employees
Part of building a brand is adding a human element and showing the faces behind your business. Creating a series such as “Introduction Fridays” is a fun way to introduce your employees and allow your audience to get to know everyone.
Do a little Q&A with each of your employees and ask them questions such as the following:
What’s your favorite part about working here?
What is your favorite food?
Where is one place you would like to travel to?
The questions don’t need to be heavy, just make them fun and lighthearted so your audience can relate to your employees and start to build that relationship with your brand as a whole. Who doesn’t love animals? If you have any furry friends in the office, make sure to give them a shoutout too-we promise this will go a long way with your followers!
Repurpose Your Blogs
We are firm believers in repurposing content and sharing content on more than one platform. Blog posts take a long time to write, so why post them to your website and then forget about them?
Instead, extract paragraphs from your blogs and repurpose them as captions on Instagram and Facebook. At the end of the caption, encourage your followers to visit the full blog post by adding something like this: “Want to know more about this topic? Head over to the blog in our bio!” Not only are you providing valuable information on social media, but you’re also increasing traffic to your website!
Answer a Common Question in Your Industry
One strategy we personally use is answering common questions in our industry. By doing so, you position yourself and your business as an industry leader and show that you know your stuff. If you use the proper hashtags this is also a great strategy to grow your social media following. People will read your post, see that you offer insight into the industry, and will follow you for more quality content!
Go Behind the Scenes
We’re all a little nosy, right?
Have some fun and share with your audience what working at your company is like. Some ideas include going behind the scenes of a photoshoot, product development, or a fun team meeting. This is a particularly great strategy to implement if you’re looking to hire and want to attract like-minded people.
Share a Review or Testimonial
Sharing a review or testimonial to your Instagram feed isn’t bragging – it’s proving that you have a good product or service! 97% of people read reviews for local businesses, so adding one to your content calendar every so often just makes them easier to find. It’s also an opportunity to thank your customers for their support and purchases.
You can use a free tool like Canva or Easil to create a graphic that will look aesthetically pleasing on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. In the caption, feel free to shout out the customer who left the review and thank them for the support. Your audience will not only see the great review, but they’ll also see that you value your customers.
Get Your Followers Involved
Interact with your followers by asking a question or posting a poll. The topic can be fun or on the more serious side, but either way, your customers will love providing their feedback.
Not sure what your next blog should be about? Ask what your customers want to read! Need opinions on the new paint color for the office? Post a picture of the paint swatches and let your followers sound off. It’s all about creating that bond with your audience and making them feel a part of the experience.
